Kirkman piano from the English School of piano manufacture. London based Kirkman built some very fine pianos and this early example is in good original condition. It measures 55 inches wide, 27 inches deep and 51 inches tall. Pleated fabric front with carved surround, turned legs with fine carved detailing and very good and clean interior. It may require tuning slightly more frequently than a modern piano because of its wood frame. However this particular instrument holds its tune very well indeed. The sound produced by these instruments differs from modern instruments being more delicate with a different sound imparted by the wooden frame when compared to metal framed instruments. A rare find in good playing condition this instrument is suitable for those who wish the traditional / historic sound coupled with fine appearance and craftsmanship.
